The Absurdity of Criminalizing Peer-to-peer Sharing

Is it illegal to invite friends over to watch a pay-per-view boxing match? If sharing music is illegal, then it must be, because it is exactly the same thing. And if the illegality to have a pay-per-view party seems absurd to you, then it must also seem absurd to you that sharing music is criminal.
