Miss Alaska is Anti-Science

The Palin choice signals that this election will be, at least in some substantial way, a fight over energy. McCain can expect the campaign donations from polluting corporations to pour in now. Palin is a very passionate and articulate voice for the energy sector and ANWR is her big cause. It's smart in the sense that the McCain camp correctly anticipated the direction Obama was moving in - crystallized by his Kennedy-to-the-moon-in-a-decade energy independence project. The problem for McCain is that Palin will strike many Americans as an extremist because, well, she is. They will need to soften her hard edges. Obama needs to prepare to let Gore loose on Palin.

Hear me now and spread the news: Palin believes creationism should be taught in public schools. She is an anti-science extremist.

There is a positive for the McCain race in this scenario. Since, according to polls, some Hillary supporters were thinking of switching to McCain, this should help him secure those votes.
